This website represents my prevous experiences as a musician, educator, entrepreneur, and dreamer. I first used this website as a learning management tool for a series of blended learning courses I was teaching. Later I needed a tool to show my professional development over the years, so I added a portfolio. I have recently been challenged to move into a new phase in my life due to significant hearing loss. I am working through this transition and have been documenting the process in a blog below as a tool for my own learning process.

Upekkhā
Upekkhā (Pali: उपेक्षा) is a Buddhist concept that refers to equanimity—a state of mental balance and impartiality. I have learned that we have a choice of how to meet the world. We can see it through the lens of past experience and conditioning, or we meet it with fresh eyes. Equanimity can be the new lens that allows you to see without judgment. To stay open long enough to see what is really true.
Upekkhā represents a calm and even-minded approach to life's ups and downs, allowing one to remain unattached to extreme emotions like desire or aversion. Pain still exists but equanimity keeps it from lingering in our mind. It allows us not to hold so tightly to our aspirations, or fears, It allows you to be, right here, right now.
